  • What is the difference between coaching and consulting?
Coaching primarily focuses on personal or professional development, empowering individuals to discover their own solutions, clarify their goals, and maximize their potential. Coaching is often future-oriented, helping clients set and achieve specific goals. EMERJ is here to support you in creating action plans and holding you accountable. Consulting centers around providing expertise and specialized knowledge to address specific challenges or projects within your business. Consultants offer clients direct advice, solutions, and strategies based on experience and expertise, often providing actionable steps to achieve desired outcomes.
  • How do I know if I need coaching, consulting, or both?
You need a coach if you want help: organizing your thoughts creating a practical and effective plan prioritize goals and tasks being more accountable for following through on tasks maintaining high motivation even in the face of difficulties You need a consultant if you want: business advice and entrepreneurial experience to understand the basics of business planning, operations and marketing to find ways to manage and follow-up on your business success to gain expertise in integrating organizational culture or leadership principles If you want help in both areas, you need both coaching and consulting. I strongly encourage my clients to use me as a coach-consultant, the best of both worlds. In all cases, I will: Ask thought-provoking questions to stimulate you to look at things in new ways Really listen to what you say. Not only to the surface content of what you are saying, but also listening for the patterns, beliefs and feelings behind content Give honest feedback on what I observe Assign you “homework” to do between sessions
  • Do you serve a particular geographic area?
EMERJ is headquartered in Houston, Texas, but our services extend nationwide across the United States. We are also open to the opportunity of serving clients in international locations.
  • What are your credentials for being a business coach?
I bring a wealth of credentials to my role as a business coach and consultant. With a bachelor's degree in Communications from Texas A&M University, specialized training in small business development from the University of Houston, and certification as a business consultant through IAP, I have a strong academic foundation. I also have practical experience in event planning, fitness, and construction management, in addition to my current role in the non-profit sector. Furthermore, I'm actively pursuing a master's degree in executive coaching and consulting affiliated with the International Coach Federation (ICF), underscoring my commitment to maintaining high standards and providing top-notch coaching and consulting services.
  • What kinds of topics do you discuss with your clients?
Help Clients clarify their calling and narrow down their niche Help Business Owners execute their business idea by presenting them with steps to help them launch their business The benefit of business plans and walking clients through building their very own Goal Setting for your Business Creating a Marketing Plan How to balance the demands of being self-employed with your personal life Social Media Strategy Leadership Skills and Personal Development Creating Business Strategies that best suit your niche and goals Helping clients focus on a current challenge in their business and helping them overcome it Training in leadership development and organizational health ...and much more!
  • Do your clients always know exactly what kind of business they want to start before they come to you?
Our clients fall into three categories: The first type of client is one who already has a business and wants to grow it or expand to new areas. The second type of client is just getting started in a new business, but knows exactly what business they want to be in. The third type of client has several ideas for businesses, but isn’t sure yet which one (or which combination) will work best for them, or if there’s something they haven't thought of yet that might be the best fit.
  • How will I know you are the right coach for me? What can I expect from you as my coach?
Effective coaching is all about connection. That’s why I like to schedule a discovery session with potential clients to determine if working together is an appropriate fit. So, before you say "yes,” you will actually experience a coaching session. The strategy session is complimentary and does not push or pressure you to work together. As your coach you can expect me to... Be a partner in bringing out the best, the deepest, and the truest in you Provide safety, encouragement and support; an environment in which you can relax and explore Respect the confidentiality of the agreements we make Expand your view of what is possible and encourage new insights Give you input, straight feedback and operate as a sounding board Listen carefully to what you say and ask questions that increase awareness Be an on-going resource for you in achieving your goals
  • How do I get started in the coaching process? How long will you be my business coach?
If you are interested in beginning the coaching process, please schedule a discovery call to further explore the details of the coaching relationship. It depends upon your needs and preferences, but typically I work with clients intensively for a minimum of 3 months and then transition to periodic coaching on as as-needed basis.
  • What if I sign up for coaching and decide it is not right for me? Do you have a money back guarantee?
Our month to month coaching requires a 3 month commitment. If within the first month of our relationship you show up for the calls and participate fully in the coaching process, kindly let me know this is not working for you and I will discontinue your upcoming services. However, a lot of time and customization goes into our coaching process so our fees are non-refundable for services that have already been completed.
  • Can I contact you in between our scheduled coaching sessions?
Yes! In the event that you would like support on something that comes up in between our meetings, you can contact me via email.
  • What if I need help or support in an area where a specific expertise is required?
As a coach and consultant, I can only provide the expertise that I have. If I see that there is support that you need that I am not equipped to provide, I will let you know and, whenever possible, refer you to appropriate services.
